I caught up with Pat (Patrick) first at his parents house in North Booval, where he was surrounded by his family and his very placid dog. Like many grooms, Pat was not keen on having his picture taken, but her certainly warmed up to it with his family around helping him by paying him out, this relaxed him and put his nerves at ease for the pics.

After taking some pics of Pat I whizzed of to Collingwood Park to catch up with Renee and the girls. Renee was quite calm and ready for a day with friends and family to party and celebrate her marriage with Patrick. Their little flower girl Destiny was just gorgeous and did such a great job.

Renee reminded me and made sure that we got some pics of her with her father, this was a beautiful moment as when they hugged it was like Renee was never going to let go and it was obvious that they have a great relationship and father daughter bond.

These guys had a Thunderbird classic and my goodness, for those of you that like or love cars this was a gem and a real treat to be able to take pics of .

The ceremony and reception was at the Ipswich Golf Club so this was good for saving time and being able to do pics and everything all at the one location. There was bag pipes playing when Renee arrived which was great, there is something about bag pipes that gives the majority goose bumps – it was a very nice touch to start the ceremony off.

Once formal photos were done, Renee and Pat settled in at their reception and had great time with their family and friends.

Having 5 children keeps them busy and I had to make sure that I didn’t forget anyone for any of single portraits…. The pics were all going well but did get ended early because of a little bit of a head injury with Jenna having to go to the local hospital to get checked out (she head clashed with our little man and ended up head first in the concrete). With the all clear we went to dinner and did some well deserved eating and more catching up.

Again the Ward girls and boy have excelled and are just naturals with a camera… Thanks again Kim and John for letting us capture your beautiful family and we are lucky that we get to update your family photos, for you and for us being that you are part of our extended family. Love to all.

The location for the shoot was 17 mile rock , which is a great location as it is perfect for outdoor pics and lets the kids have a run and play in the park at the same time. It is a popular location especially in the summer with water play area for the kids.

Zann and Dean are a very laid back couple making the whole family to be of the same nature and easy to work with. Their lovely children, Savannah and Macleay did a great job and weren’t overly shy in front of the over sized camera that they had pointed in their direction.

We got some great pics, Thanks Zann and Dean for making the shoot easy and enjoyable – we wish you  and your family all the best and hope you like your pics (and also hope Mum likes them too).

Teel accompanied me for their big day which is always a big help, thanks again Teel.

I meet up with Brett and the guys first whilst they were getting ready at their house in Brisbane, there was some pre-wedding nerves from Brett which is always healthy and the guys did a good job of keeping him busy. I felt like a bit of a goose when I asked Brett if he was the groom’s brother when he answered the front door; it is amazing just how facial hair can make a person look so different, there was a few giggles at this time, but again sorry Brett. 

After about 20 minutes of pics with the guys I was off and on the road to see the girls.

Jenni and the girls were settled in nicely at the Marriott hotel in Brisbane. The Marriott is always nice to work with, perfect for getting ready and of course perfect for pics. Jenni was very organised and wasn’t nervous and just couldn’t wait to get down the golf club to be with Brett.

Their ceremony was held at the Indooroopilly golf club. I had been here before with a fellow photographer so I knew what to expect and what I had available location wise. It also did help that Brett had some local knowledge of the golf course from the many games of golf that he had played on the greens.

The day was meant to be all about the bride and groom but I must admit that little Isabel stole my heart, she was the flower-girl who was just awesome to work with and just a gorgeous natured little girl.

We had a fantastic time out on the golf course including one of the brides maids loosing control of the golf buggy. The buggy went up and over one of the hills and straight into a sand bunker – nose first, it was hilarious and amongst all the laughing she was very lucky not to have got hurt… I still giggle a little when I think about it as I write this.

After getting off the course in one piece and successfully getting some fantastic shots it was then time for the reception and time for Jenni and Brett to enjoy some time with their family and friends.

A very big Thank you to you both Jenni and Brett for having me on board for your special day. You guys rocked and were so totally calm throughout the whole day. I had a blast being able to share in and capture your special memories. Thank you.

We had the family shoot in the Nerima Gardens at Ipswich and this is a great location as it has so much to offer with a variety of backgrounds for their shoot and all in one location. This is great from mine and their perspective as it saves time on travel and trying to capture different looks without having to go to a heap of different places to achieve them.

These guys were so easy to photograph, which makes the shoot so easy for me and them. We had a good time with the shoot and as you can see Montana & Jac are not afraid of the camera and knew how to work it well. Kids at this age don’t often want to have photos or have to be in pictures with their siblings, but Montana and Jac (well everyone) did whatever I asked and suggested and we came out with some fantastic shots.

Thanks guys for being such a pleasure to photograph and I hope that you and everyone else like your  Christmas family pics.

Once again these kids a fantastic job of having the camera’s in their faces and a foreign voice getting their attention to capture some of their natural charm and affection with their parents. Nathan was 8 months of age at this shoot and had a killer smile when it came out, he tended to smile after the shot was taken which is common for the younger ones – but it is still cute to see each time it happen. Damien was a gentle in nature and you could tell that he just loved to have fun with his parents, both kids were easy going and made the shoot easy.

Teel (my second shooter) came out today also for a play and this was her first experience of helping and being part of a family shoot, so thanks today Teel for your help, it is always greatly appreciated.

A big thank you to all of the Fensom family, you have a beautiful family and I thank you for allowing RFP to capture some of your early memories as your family grows. I look forward to taking some updated pics as the boys grow and hope you enjoyed the shoot and your pics.

I meet Linda at the Ipswich Home expo stall and we talked of possibly doing some family pics for her. Well in November 2009 this happened. 4 families and the adored grandparents  all came along to the Mt Cootha Gardens to have their family pics updated. In total there was 10 adults and 9 children, so with the weather being humid and hot we tried to cover as much ground as we could without wearing out the younger kids and overdoing it with the adults.

I had allocated half hous time slots for each individual family so that we could do their pics and also some big group ones, but I found that this wasn’t quite enough time and I think 45 minutes or an hour would have worked just that little better, as it is a big day for the family by the end of it.

All the kids did extremely well considering how hot it was, all in all it was a great result with each family getting their individual family shoot as well as all getting together with the whole family. It is not often that families can get together easily and all together – so I thank you all for taking out the time and being patient with with shoot, it is always a big ask for the Mum’s and Dad’s to try and do big groups, especially when it is hot.

You all did fantastic considering that it was already 30degree’s by 9.30am – I think we all felt it (me included ).

In some of my consulting with Roberta and Ben they had mentioned that they would like something different from their day that didn’t necessarily be just wedding photos, they were hoping for something scenic from the surrounds of the day. We briefly spoke of doing the sunrise of their day but it wasn’t really confirmed so it was a nice surprise for them when they saw me wandering around Lake Kurwongbah at 4.45am on their wedding morning getting some pics of the sunrise on the lake.

Both Roberta and Ben got ready at Whispers lakeside and the ceremony and reception was at Old Petrie Town and all of these locations are just gorgeous and perfect for that magical day of a wedding.

As you can tell my morning started very early to ensure that I captured the sunrise, I was on the road at 3.30am and I hit the lake just before sun up at 4.45am. I had checked the net for timings and made it just in time with about 5 minutes to spare. I jumped out of the car like a jack rabbit and ran around taking some shots, after going through rain on the way up I didn’t expect to see the sun so bright and clearly. The sunrise was awesome and I am very glad that I got to capture their new beginning with the sunrise.

I started with the guys first and caught up with them in one of the cabins on the lake. Ben was doing just fine and had the page boy and flower girl along side him. Xander, their son who was the page boy was asking to watch DVD’s whilst the flower girl, Isabel was still catching some z’s before everything started to roll for the day.

In the cabin next door the girls were getting ready and too were doing just fine, as I arrived on their doorstep they were just getting the finishing touches done with the hair and makeup. As I took some pics of the finer details, such as the dress with the shoes and jewellery I had some onlookers and admirers with the girls just watching how the photography was unfolding for the start of the day. Roberta was very calm and relaxed and was not nervous at all, having the two Jo’s around (the bridesmaids) to help out along with her daughter Chrissy was a treat and special time for Roberta.

Seeing the family all getting ready and sharing this special day together was just beautiful, Roberta and Ben having their 3 children Corey, Chrissy and Xander involved in their big day made it even more magical and it was very evident that these guys are such an open and loving family.

The ceremony was held at a chapel in Old Petrie Town and was witnessed by a small group of family and friends. The ceremony was brief but meaningful so this gave Roberta and Ben more time to share in the congratulations greetings from their family and friends and enabled us to get into the photos quickly.

As we moved around Old Petrie Town I found more and more backdrops, buildings and gardens that made the photography easy and made this place just a perfect location for a wedding and photos in general. Old Petrie Town is definitely a one stop wedding venue having the chapel, awesome buildings and well manicured gardens along with the first class reception venue.

I loved the red doors at the old fire station and even the railway station along with the giant fig trees and rustic buildings, what more can a photographer ask for.

Roberta and Ben you both rock and I thank you so much for having me on board for your beautiful day, it was a massive day but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
